Tell us about your brand / company. What inspired you to start this brand? What makes your products unique?
Total Translations as the name indicates provides business, legal and medical translations in many languages. My academic background is in International Studies and languages, so it was a natural progression and passion to join my partner as a co-owner. We have been in business in the US since 1999, and love what we do.
Are there any struggles / adversity that you’ve faced in starting or running your business? If so, we’d love to hear your story.
Our company took a hit during COVID, but of course, almost every business did. However, it was a great opportunity to create new ways of connecting with clients and expanding our community reach. We took immediate action and participated in the FLORIDA BUSINESS COVID COALITION for collective efforts and immediate action to reactive business. We were able to offer new services such as Zoom conferences in various languages using new technologies with human interpreters via different zoom channels during the same sessions/conferences/meetings.
What helped you “rise above” during this struggle? Any inspiration or anyone who helped you?
Reaching out to other business owners, technology companies, and community leaders. That was our source of inspiration. We were all moving in the same direction, supporting each other and finding ways to overcome so many obstacles. Our team of medical translators got very busy translating health care directives in many languages for the prevention and treatment of COVID. There was a huge need to disseminate quickly and accurately all the new information about the pandemic.
Tell us about a time in your life where you had to “rise above” out of a situation.
Rising above has been a way of life for me. I don't dwell on the negative but forge ahead to overcome any obstacle. There are economic crises that are cyclical, and it is during those difficult times that I had to overcome problems and come up with innovative ways of doing business to keep going.
What advice would you give another woman who is currently experiencing this situation?
Keep your calm. believe in yourself and reach out to other women or people who can help you.
